White Vinyl Background

How do I light up the background?
I’m trying something new… and it’s very alien to me… as I’ve always shot outdoors…
I’m using 2 softboxes and a white high key vinyl background…
I’ve been told I need to blow out the background with light to make sure it doesn’t look gray.
What type of light(s) and/or source do I use and where do I place it/them.
Many thanks.
If you are using flash in your softboxes, then you will need to mount some flashes aimed at the background and make sure they are overexposing the background at least two stops.
If you are using incandescent lamps in the softboxes, you can use some inexpensive 250 watt or 500 watt work lights you can find at a place like Home Depot.
