Studio Umbrella Softbox

What is the difference between a Softbox and one of those umbrella lights in Studio Lighting?
A softbox diffuses the lights. Where as an umbrella generally reflects (unless it is shoot through). In my experience the softbox creates a more natural tone for portrature rather than the umbrella. The umbrella can tend to be a bit more harsh. But they both have their purposes!
