what am I looking for in Photography Strobe light kit?where can I find the strobe light bulbs?
It means a flash-based system. You have 2 kinds, studio flash and on the camera flash. Typically they do not use bulbs as such, though the flash head units are replaceable and an old system did use flash ‘cubes’ / effectively little bulbs.
The key issues for a studio based flash system are a combination of power and control / small adjustments. You also typically get a bulb-based ‘modeling light’, which means you can see where the light is going before you make your flash images.
You can buy these things as a unit, nowadays including a tripod, some kind of reflector and / or diffuser, which will soften or focus the light and often with a ‘slave’ unit – a remote light sensitive trigger, so when one light flashes the others will flash too, without the need for a whole load of interlinking leads.
Ebay is a good place to take a look at what is available… shop around before you buy and start with one light. Finally when using studio flash, always use an RCD ‘tripper’ as flash lights can maintain a massive current – easily enough to kill. I would also consider a flash meter which will help you to learn about flash lighting and to control it.
