Hot Shoe Adapter

What is a good hot shoe adapter for a pc cord that won’t fry my camera?
I don’t need anything remote firing, I just want something easy to hook up directly to my strobe with a pc cord. However I heard that if you hook directly up to it there’s a chance you could overload your camera. What kind should I get then?
