The Nokia N95 is the manufacturers flag ship model exhibiting the highest specifications and features available at the present time, the N95 was the first of the new 5.0 megapixel camera phones to make it to market but has now been joined by the Samsung G600, Sony Ericsson K850i and the LG KU990 Viewty.
Although all of the above models offer the top end camera they also have some very different and unique features but the N95 is the more popular choice holding the brand name that is now synonimous with the mobile phones industry.
The Nokia N95 was available in two colours with different network operators choosing to work with the one they felt best expressed their packages, the more expensive of the two models is the Plum edition which can be found on all networks excepting 3 Mobile, the network operator chose the Sand version for their offering.
Alongside featuring the highest specification camera, it also offers a flash for poor light conditions, auto focus for quick and easy picture capture, digital zoom for close up photography and video support for recording and playing back short video clips. The lens is features Carl Zeiss Optics which produces DVD like quality imaging not found in any of the other 5 megapixel models.
The is also a second VGA camera located on the front of the handset which along with 3G enablement allows for face to face video calling so the user can see as well as hear the person they are talking with. This services provides many more opportunities than merely seeing a caller, businesses are using the service for a wide number of situations to help cut costs and expand productivity, one example is of estate agents taking a 3G enabled device out on the road with them and calling a second device in the office, they can then show potential property buyers around a house via video calling.
3G also opens a gateway to a wealth of mobile entertainment and information with direct access to streaming media such as new and sports headlines, weather forecasts, movie trailers and new music videos. Users can also quickly download new mobile content such as ringtones, games and themes as much faster speeds than GRPS and EDGE technologies.
The N95 can also be used as a satellite navigation tool with maps which are pre-installed for over 100 countries that can be updated by downloading direct to the handset and sat nav software which can be programmed for journey planning, route finding, tourist attractions, places of interest and user inputted locations.
There is also a media player for downloading new music tracks which can be controlled with some dedicated music keys hidden beneath the phones unique two way sliding mechanism. The first slide reveals the large keypad for text input and menu navigation whilst sliding in the other direction reveals the music controls and protects the main keypad.
The Nokia N95 offers a large memory for storing the vast amount of files that the phone produces such as photo, video and music files and can be expanded with MicroSD cards up to 2GB, enough to hold up to 1800 songs.
The addition of a Black version of the N95 sees the final colour variant release although there are plans to launch an 8GB version of the N95 very soon.
